Breakwells Paints have been supplying customised paints and aerosols for over 20 years, but did you know that we also offer a wide range of consumables?
We all know that when you are starting (or finishing) your paint projects there is nothing more frustrating that realising you don’t have all the essential consumables you need to do this. With this in mind we have compiled a check list for you so you can make sure you don’t forget anything.
1. Masking Paper & Masking Tape
Masking paper and masking tape are essential to mask off any areas that should not be painted. They are easy to apply and can be removed without leaving any marks or damage.
2. Fine Line Tape
Fine line tape is widely referred to as painters tape and is ideal for detailed masking. It is available in 4 different widths, 3mm, 6mm, 9mm and 12mm, and is perfect for obtaining a sharp line finish.
3. Primer
Primer is used to prepare many surfaces before painting and will ensure better adhesion of the paint to the substrate and provide an overall professional looking finish. We offer a wide range of primers including etch primer, high build primer and acid etch primers if you need a primer with anti-corrosive properties. Not all substrates will require a primer but if you are unsure please call our technical team on 01922 400444, who will be more than happy to help you.
4. Tack Rags
Tack rags are great for use before your primer as they can help you make sure all the dust and loose particles are removed from the substrate before the primer is applied.
5. Sanding Discs & Polishing Kits
Sanders and and sanding disks are perfect for cleaning your surfaces before primer or paint are used. They will remove surface particles from substrates such as metal, glass and plastic. They can also used for polishing and finishing your paint projects.
6. Thinners
Our range of thinners includes standard thinners, premium thinners and anti-bloom thinners. Our standard thinners are primarily for cleaning your brushes and equipment after use with solvents. Our premium thinners are stronger thinners and can still be used for cleaning your equipment i.e. brushes and spray guns but they are generally used for thinning your paint when using it through spray gun. We also offer anti-bloom thinners that can help prevent the blooming effect in wet and damp conditions.
7. Lacquer
A lacquer (clearcoat) is the final stage in the automotive painting process and will give your vehicle a gloss finish whilst also adding protection to the paint. We have 1k and 2k lacquers available. If you require a 2k activator you will need to use an appropriate activator.
We also supply at lot of other consumables that you may need within the painting process so if you can’t see what you are looking for visit our online shop or call our friendly and knowledgeable team on 01922 400444.
